U & Me is a short film initiative by MCCI, developed in partnership with Why Documentaries, celebrating multicultural Australia through stories of friendship, connection and belonging.

The original U & Me online short film project shares positive friendship stories between people from diverse cultural backgrounds. The project was shortlisted as a finalist in the Australian Human Rights Awards (2018).

Six films were created by young migrants during school holiday workshops, where they learned to script, film, edit and produce their own stories. The films were supported through a Fostering Integration Grant from DoHA.

In 2026 the series expanded to the Shoalhaven region, with MCCI and Why Documentaries capturing new stories of cross-cultural friendship and connection.
