MCCl’s multicultural friendship program connects volunteers with older people who live at residential facilities or receive a Home Care Package at home between Helensburgh and Ulladulla and would appreciate an extra visitor.
“It makes me happy when I come here. It’s so rewarding. It makes me a better person,” said Lily who visits Maria at Marco Polo at Unanderra every week.
They are both of Italian background and have formed a group who chat about Italian culture, enjoy morning tea and sing traditional songs.
If you would like to volunteer, click here. An hour per fortnight is all that is required.
If you or somebody you know would like to receive a visitor or a phone call, get in touch with Tania at MCCI on 4229 7566.
The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) is free and funded by the Australian Government. Read more about the nationwide program here.
