Quality Standards and Cultural Responsiveness –
Free online cultural training for aged care providers

Learn how to implement Aged Care Quality Standards when working with older Australians from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds (CALD) and develop strategies to support their individual cultural identities.

ZELJKA CANKOVIC, Education and Training Coordinator, has been working with MCCI since 2018. Zeljka has worked in Refugee Settlement Sector for 12 years where she gained valuable experience in working with CALD communities and services involved in clients’ settlement. She was also employed with Housing NSW as a Senior Client Service Officer Specialist. Apart from these roles, Zeljka has been employed with TAFE Community Services as a casual part – time teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Science Psychology, Diploma of Leadership and Management, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and Certificate in Understanding Dementia.

GORDANA SPIROVSKA, Consumer and Sector Engagement Coordinator has been working with MCCI since 2006 in different roles including Sector Support and Development, Quality and Training and Consumer and Sector engagement coordinator. In addition, Gordana has been working as a Qualified VET Trainer and Assessor since 2017 and currently works as a casual part time teacher at TAFE NSW in aged care. Gordana holds a number of qualifications in Community Services Management and Aged Care industry including Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Partners in Culturally Appropriate Care (PICAC) NSW & ACT is part of the nationwide PICAC Alliance which is funded by the Australian Government to support aged care service providers to deliver care that meets the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) people. PICAC NSW & ACT is auspiced by the Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra (MCCI).
