Community Visitors Scheme

What is the CVS Program?

The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) recruits, trains and supports volunteers to visit socially or culturally isolated residents of Aged Care Homes funded by the Australian Government:

  • who do not have regular and reasonably frequent contact with friends or relatives
  • who feel very isolated and lonely who would benefit from contact
  • whose frailty or mobility or communication impairments prevent them from participating in social or leisure opportunities
  • who are from culturally or linguistically diverse backgrounds who experience isolation from their culture or heritage.

What do Community Visitors do?

Community Visitors volunteer their time on a regular basis to provide friendship and companionship.

On these friendly visits volunteers help to make their elderly friends' day better by doing activities they both enjoy such as:

  • chatting together and reminiscing
  • playing cards or other games
  • reading, watching TV or listening to music
  • going for a walk.

We are looking for CVS Volunteers to join the Community Visitors Scheme. If this sounds like you, we would like to hear from you.
