Carers Support

Are you looking after someone or taking care of them? At MCCI we know that caring for someone is rewarding, challenging and difficult. It is important to look after yourself and also be informed about what help is available to you as a carer. MCCI’s Carers Support Groups are here to help. Why not joining one of our monthly carers support groups? It is a great way to meet other carers and make new friends in a safe environment, obtain information about carer support services and learn from others.

Our four carer support groups meet monthly, with bilingual support workers available to help:

  • Arabic Speaking (third Tuesday of every month, 10am - 12pm, Cringila Multipurpose Centre, 32-40 Lave Av, Cringila)
  • Portuguese Speaking (first Tuesday of every month, 11am - 1pm, Portuguese Association, 127-129 Flagstaff Rd, Warrawong)
  • Multicultural Carers Group (third Wednesday of every month, 10:30am - 12:30pm, Cringila Multipurpose Centre, 32-40 Lake Av, Cringila)

Carers Social Marketing Campaign

As part of a social marketing campaign, developed by the University of Wollongong, we have tailored Carers Support material that you can download: carers support booklets translated into eight languages and posters aimed at the Vietnamese and Turkish communities. We have used images of some of our nearly 100 local carers who are involved in the MCCI Carers Support Program in the Illawarra. Have a look and see if you recognise any of them:
