Professor John Pollaers OAM, Founder & Executive Chairman, Leef Independent Living Solutions, will be a keynote speaker at this year’s CALDWays Conference. He will deliver the presentation ‘A Matter of Care – The Importance of Holistic Care Planning’.
In 2017 Pollaers was appointed as Chair of the Aged Care Workforce Strategy Taskforce for the Federal Government. He has a proven track record in leading major Australian and international companies including Pacific Brands and Foster’s Group, and is working across government to bring about major reforms to vocational education and training and aged care. This is a realisation of his vision of building a strong future for Australia by creating opportunities for people and businesses to flourish and succeed. He is a passionate advocate for education and training, the care of senior Australians and including more people with disability in work and training. As former Chair of the Australian Industry and Skills Committee, he led the reform of the Vocational Education System. John is Chair of the Australian Advanced Manufacturing Council, a member of the Federal Government’s Aged Care Sector Committee and Chancellor of Swinburne University. He is also Executive Chairman of Leef Independent Living Solutions, an innovative functional health and assistive technology business with 14 Independent Living Centres nationally.
Dr. Nita Mosby Tyler, Chief Catalyst The Equity Project, LLC, will deliver the keynote presentation ‘Creating an Inclusive Organizational mindset - Leadership matters’ which takes participants on a journey of “deconstructing” the real meaning of equity, inclusivity, and diversity – and how these concepts show up in the workplace. We will explore the ways in which seemingly small decisions in the office can have significant and meaningful impact within an organization. This keynote is designed to inspire and energize participants to leverage their skills as both leaders and colleagues in the journey to create more equitable workplaces.
Dr. Nita Mosby Tyler is the Chief Catalyst and Founder of The Equity Project, LLC – an organization designed to support organizations and communities in building diversity, equity and inclusion strategies and The HR Shop, LLC-a human resources firm designed to support non-profits and small businesses. She is the former Senior Vice President and Chief Inclusion Officer for Children’s Hospital Colorado –the first African American woman to hold that position in the organizations 100+ year history. She is also the former Executive Director of the Office of Human Resources for the City and County of Denver –the first African American woman to hold that position in the 63+ year history of the agency. Dr. Mosby Tyler, a consultant accredited by the Georgetown University National Center for Cultural Competence and recipient of the Cornell University Diversity & Inclusion certification, is nationally recognized for her equity work with non-profit, community, government and corporate organizations. Dr. Mosby Tyler holds a doctorate in the field of Organizational Leadership from the University of Colorado, a Master of Arts degree in Management fromWebster University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Alabama.
