Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has announced the date for a referendum to recognise Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Peoples in Australia’s constitution, and to establish a First Nations Voice to Parliament. It will be held on Saturday 14 October and voting is compulsory for Australian citizens. “The Uluru Statement is a generous invitation to all Australians to learn more about First Nations experiences and MCCI is a proud signatory to the Joint Resolution of Multicultural Community Organisations in support of a First Nations Voice referendum. We urge all members of our community to be informed about the referendum and to accept this invitation to walk together with our First Nations brothers and sisters for a better future for everyone. ” Chris Lacey, CEO.
