Elderly people from CALD backgrounds are identified as being especially vulnerable with specific health and wellbeing needs. This has important implications for aged care service delivery and in particular, delivering culturally appropriate services. If you would like to learn more about the links between culture, health and wellbeing, how to increase client satisfaction and nutritional status, improve community cohesion and engagement, and overall enjoyment of meals by clients, this training is for you.
The training will be delivered by
ZELJKA CANKOVIC, Education and Training Coordinator, has been working with MCCI since 2018. Zeljka has worked in Refugee Settlement Sector for 12 years where she gained valuable experience in working with CALD communities and services involved in clients settlement. She was also employed with Housing NSW as a Senior Client Service Officer Specialist. Apart from these roles, Zeljka has been employed with TAFE Community Services as a casual part – time teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Science Psychology, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and Certificate Understanding Dementia MOOC. She is currently enrolled in Diploma of Leadership and Management.
HEBA HASSANIN, Education and Training Officer, started working with MCCI in 2019. Heba has been an accredited practising dietitian in Australia since 2017 and recently joined the Allied Health team in MCCI. She gained valuable experience in working with CALD communities and number of stakeholders. She also has more than 5 years of overseas experience working as a dietitian. Heba holds a Master of Dietetics and Nutrition. She also holds Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. She has been involved in delivering various group education and presentations to CALD communities and service providers. Heba is currently enrolled in Understanding Dementia MOOC course.
