Social Support Groups

MCCI's Social Support Groups meet weekly to provide culturally appropriate activities and programs to empower and support older people from multicultural backgrounds to make informed choices about living at home independently.

Social Support Groups assist CALD clients to:

  • stay at home and to be more independent in the community
  • maintain nutritional, recreational, health and ageing needs
  • meet their language and cultural requirements
  • reduce social isolation and improve health & wellbeing
  • actively participate in the community.

The program is provided in a group environment and includes the following activities:

  • morning tea
  • hot lunches (culturally appropriate meals)
  • interactive games and crafts
  • outings and excursions
  • educational and informational workshops
  • health and wellbeing development
  • individual support
  • information and referrals.
