60 Second Cut is a short film competition to raise the awareness of dementia and educate the wider community about the causes and ways in which to prevent dementia.
The competition is open to two categories:
1. 10-18 year old students (up to 5 students per entry – school prize)
2. 18-24 year old individuals (individual prize)

Entries must:
- Raise the awareness of dementia and educate the wider community about the causes and ways in which to prevent dementia
- Not exceed 60 seconds in length, not including titles and end credits
- Entries should be submitted on DVD, a data disc containing a QuickTime .mov file or an .AVI file

Conditions of Entry
1. Technical Requirements
a. Entries submitted on DVD
b. Entries submitted on QuickTime .mov file or as a .AVI
c. Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra reserves the right to request evidence or copyright clearances and to exclude any entry without the requested documentation.
d. Entries MUST not exceed 60 seconds in length, not including titles and end credits.
e. All entries must be labelled clearly with the film’s title and name of the school or individual.
f. If entering more than one film, please submit them on separate DVDs 2. Submitting Film Entries
a. Each separate entry must be accompanied by a completed and signed entry form
b. Failure to comply with the above conditions will result in your film being ineligible for entry
c. Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra will not take responsibility for lost or damaged work; we advise entrants NOT to submit the original, master or only copy of their film. Entries will be archived and will not be returned
3. Pre-Selection and Festival Judging
There will be a judging panel to determine the winners and finalists, which entries will be screened in ‘Dancing for Dementia’ Fundraising Ball in November 2009.
4. Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra Inc reserves rights to your film before, during and after the competition;
Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra Inc reserves the right to use your film entry or scenes from your entry (with or without original audio) and/or stills from your entry for use in promotional/commercial fundraising compilations, trailers and media purposes, before and after the competition screening.
Your entry may have additional screenings following the main date. Screenings may include art gallery displays, website video streaming/downloads, television specials, regional festival screening tours or retrospectives.
Should your film entry receive interest from any industry bodies or representatives, Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra Inc will endeavour to put you in direct contact with those interested parties.
